Adam Banotai, 41, is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bail, authorities said.
Police said they were approached by a 32-year-old woman late on Tuesday night about a domestic assault.
"The victim advised police that her husband had made threats of suicide and texted the victim a message with a photograph of him with a handgun in his hand and threatened to shoot police if they came to the house," LTPD said in a release.
Officers set up a perimeter around the home on the 4600 block of Steven Lane and made "numerous attempts" to contact Banotai, police said.
Authorities said they saw a gun "in close proximity to Banotai through a sliding glass door," and a state police SERT team was called. A state police negotiator eventually convinced him to come outside and he was arrested without further incident, police said.
Steven Lane residents were asked to shelter in place until around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
"Thanks to Lehigh Township Fire, Northampton Regional EMS, as well as the Public Works department for assisting with shutting the road and being on standby," the department said.
